The only team that has played in all the times that the world cup has been held in Brazil. Germany and Italy are second having won the world cup four times each. Winners of the tournament two times each are Uruguay and Argentina while one time winners of the world cup are England, Spain and France.
The competition worldwide has the highest number of followers worldwide in the sports category and attracts a huge number of viewers globally. The winner of the competition also carry home a huge lump sum of money as it the most precious trophy .
To host the world cup tournament in a country, different countries places bids to the Federation and the procedure is conducted by the twenty two members of the Federation to vet, vote and determine which of the country is to host the world cup. The 21st world cup tournament is scheduled to be held in Russia, This is after they won the hosting rights and it will be on June 14th to July 15th 2018. This happens to be the First world cup competition to be held in Eastern Europe ever.
The tournament will involve the thirty two national teams including one automatic host national team and the qualifying thirty one. There will be sixty four matches to be played at different venues that have been selected by FIFA and the final match will be played in Moscow.
The current holders of the title are Germany and are heavily tasked in the defending it. during the tournament the host benefit a lot.
